Chase Daniel signs with Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles signed quarterback Chase Daniel on Wednesday.

According to ESPN, Daniel agreed to a three-year contract with the Eagles. The deal became official at 4 p.m. when the new NFL year begins.

Daniel will be reunited with new Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, who was the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs when Daniel was with the Chiefs.

“Thank you to the Hunt family, Andy Reid, John Dorsey, Chris Ballard and all my coaches and teammates for these last three years,” Daniel wrote on Twitter. “You guys gave me a chance when no one else believed I could play and I’ll be forever grateful for my time in Kansas City.”

Daniel entered the NFL in 2009 as an undrafted rookie and joined the New Orleans Saints as a backup to Drew Brees in 2010. In 2013, he joined the Chiefs. Daniel has made only two starts in his career. He has a 1-1 record and has completed 50 of 77 passes for 464 yards, with a touchdown and an interception, according to the Kansas City Star. He has completed 241 of 364 passes for 2,673 yards with 19 touchdowns and ten interceptions when you combine his stats with the preseason.

Daniel will be the backup to quarterback Sam Bradford, who signed a new two-year contract with the Eagles last week. Bradford threw for 19 touchdowns and had 14 interceptions last year. In addition to Daniel, the Eagles also signed safety Rodney McLeod on Wednesday.
