Bruce Springsteen writes awesome tardy note for fourth grader

Bruce Springsteen’s shows are really long, so there’s a good chance you won’t make it to work or school on time the day after. Xabi Glovsky and his dad knew that, so they tried to get a tardy note from The Boss himself.

Xabi, 9, attended Springsteen’s Los Angeles Sports Arena show on March 17 and brought a sign that read, “Bruce, I will be late to school tomorrow. Please sign my note.” Considering that the show lasted until 11:40 p.m., Xabi was probably right.

Amazingly, The Boss saw the sign and wrote a letter for the young rock fan! Xabi’s dad, Scott, told Backstreets.com that Springsteen’s security team escorted them backstage after the show ended.

“Bruce sat down on a couch and started to talk with Xabi, asking for the name of his teacher and how Xabi spelled his name, pulling out a piece of paper and a pen,” Scott said. “As Xabi sat next to him on the couch, Bruce thoughtfully and artistically created this beautiful note. It was very interesting to watch the artist at work. They talked for a few minutes, and Bruce was incredibly nice, caring and gracious.”

Just to prove that this wasn’t an elaborate fake story, Springsteen’s team posted Scott’s tweet on the official Springsteen site.

Springsteen’s next show is set for March 22 in Portland, Oregon. He’s still on his new The River tour to promote the deluxe re-issue of his 1980 album.
