‘The Big Bang Theory’ gets Judd Hirsch as Leonard’s father

You would think that after nine seasons, The Big Bang Theory wouldn’t have any more family members to introduce us to. As fans of the show know, though, there are still a few left, including Leonard’s father.

We are about to meet Leonard’s dad soon, though. Judd Hirsch, who remains best known for his role on Taxi, will play the part, notes TVLine.

Johnny Galecki said at PaleyFest earlier this week that he was the one who invited Hirsch to play the role after meeting him during NBC’s tribute to prolific TV director Jim Burrows.

Leonard’s mom is played by Christine Baranski. Hirsch actually appeared on an episode of The Good Wife in 2012, so the two have worked together before. It will be fun to see if they actually appear on screen in Big Bang together.

Hirsch, an Oscar-nominee for Ordinary People, is also known for his roles in Numb3rs, Independence Day, Damages and Dead John. He will be seen again in Independence Day: Resurgence and was recently on The Goldbergs. He won two Emmys during his run on Taxi.
