The Bachelor's Ben Higgins announced on Good Morning America today that The Bachelor process worked in his favor and he is now engaged. With Joelle Fletcher and Lauren Bushnell as the final two contestants, as revealed on Feb. 29's episode, it is safe to assume that Higgins is engaged to one of these two women.
"I am engaged. I can say that? I haven't said that in an interview yet," Higgins said on GMA. "You don't know how much stress and weight that is to carry for so long. Good Morning America, I am engaged! Yes, finally!"
This news came at just the right time, following an emotional overnight date episode. In the episode, Higgins said goodbye to third place contestant Caila Quinn after realizing that he did not love her.
Higgins is not the typical Bachelor, as he revealed on Feb. 29's episode that he was in love with two women. Even more shocking, he told both women that he loved them.
The Bachelor host Chris Harrison blogged about the episode, writing:
"Lauren finally confessed… that she loved [Ben]. And at that moment Ben told her that he loved her too. It’s a thing I can’t remember ever seeing on our show, a Bachelor telling someone that he was in love that early, and to hear the 'I love you' given and returned was something I wasn’t sure I’d ever see on The Bachelor. And just when I thought things couldn’t get any stranger, they absolutely did... Ben told JoJo he loved her too."
Despite the confusion and turmoil of loving two women at once, viewers can now let out a sigh of relief that Ben will gain clarity and is currently engaged to one of the two women. Will it be JoJo or Lauren B.?
