Alfred Morris signs with Dallas Cowboys

Former Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris signed with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday.

According to NFL.com, the deal is for two years and worth $3.5 million. Morris could earn up to $5.5 million with incentives. The deal has $2 million guaranteed.

There were reportedly multiple teams interested in Morris, who visited with the Cowboys on March 21. The Cowboys were the first team he met with.

"Good for him," Washington GM Scot McCloughan said. "He's got a home. I wish it was outside the division. That's OK. We made the decision in-house, but it is what it is. He's a good player. He's a very good person and he's had a good career. But you're always trying to get better, always trying to bring in younger. I hope he does a really good job, except for against us twice a year."

Morris was drafted by the Redskins in 2012. In his rookie year he rushed for a franchise record 1,613 yards and 13 touchdowns. He had 806 yards overall and one touchdown last season and averaged career-lows in yards per carry (3.7) and yards after contact (1.45), according to ESPN. Morris has rushed for 3,962 yards in his first three seasons, which is more than any running back in the NFL except Marshawn Lynch. He has the most carries in the NFL over the last four years with 1,078.

The Cowboys have also signed defensive end Benson Mayowa and re-signed tailback Lance Dunbar.

Welcome to Dallas! Alfred Morris signed a 2-year deal with the Cowboys.
