Although Nicholas Sparks' The Choice hits movie theaters this weekend, it will soon have to compete with buzz from another adaptation of a beloved romance novel. The trailer for Me Before You, starring Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke, premiered on Feb. 4.
Posted on the film's Facebook page, the trailer shows Clarke portraying Louisa Clark, a down-on-her luck but bright-spirited 20-something woman who takes a job as a caregiver for Will (played by Hunger Games' Sam Clafin), a once-ambitious young man who was paralyzed in a tragic accident.
The film, set to premiere in June, depicts the story arc of their blossoming romance, even in the face of Will's reluctance. Me Before You is based on Jojo Moynes' 2012 novel of the same name. Clarke's role represents a departure from her previous work depicting the iconic character Daerneys Targaryen on HBO's Game of Thrones, a role for which she has twice been nominated for an Emmy.
"Every year, every single person in the cast is like, 'it's the biggest season ever,'" she told E! News at the SAG awards last month, referring to Season 6 of the series, which premieres in April. "But, legitimately, this season almost killed us. Like, it is epic!"
