Tina Fey talks filming 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot' in New Mexico

Tina Fey has revealed that her upcoming film, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, would not have been possible without the ability to film in New Mexico.

The Albuquerque Journal reported during a screening of the new movie sponsored by Paramount Pictures and the Motion Picture Association of America in Washington, D.C., Fey did her part to sing the praises of filming in the Southwestern state--not often thought of as a major movie destination.

“For us, the terrain matching well was great. And there are tax credits for our industry in New Mexico,” the 45-year-old said. “We were also very generously given access to Kirtland Air Force Base... It was a perfect combination that made the movie possible.”

As we previously reported, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is based on The Taliban Shuffle, photojournalist Kim Baker's account of her time spent abroad covering the war in Afghanistan. Fey stars alongside Margot Robbie, Alfred Molina, Billy Bob Thorton and Martin Freeman. The film debuts in the U.S. on March 4.
