Rumor: Warner Bros. is worried about 'Batman v Superman'

A lot of comic book fans are worried that Batman v Superman won't live up to the hype, and according to a new rumor, the studio is feeling that same anxiety.

Drew McWeeny of HitFix is reporting that Warner Bros. is beginning to screen Batman v Superman, and the response has not been what they were looking for.

"Warner's a little bit worried," McWeeny said. "This movie is starting to scare them...I don't think this is going to be the springboard into the Justice League that they wanted it to be."

He went on to say that DC's upcoming slate of films may be in jeopardy as a result of this disappointment, noting that it would be surprising if Justice League makes its release date, and it would be equally surprising if Zack Snyder directed it. Snyder is the man behind Batman v Superman, so if Warner Bros. really is reconsidering his skills as a director, that certainly is a bad sign.

Meanwhile, Batman News is backing up McWeeny's report, although adding that Warner is not worried about the quality of the film, but rather they're worried about how it will perform at the box office. The previous DC Universe installment, Man of Steel, grossed $291 million domestically. After all Warner Bros. has put into this superhero showdown, if Batman v Superman doesn't do significantly better than that, it's going to be a tremendous disappointment.

Batman v Superman opens on March 25. It stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams and Jeremy Irons.
