Wilson claims that she doesn't have any secrets, so her failure to discuss her age is the only thing that can be dug up about her. According to People, Wilson doesn't really hide her age (as she has to show her visa and passport for any job she does), but rather she just doesn't make a big deal about it.
The controversy over her age initially began when a former classmate discovered that the Internet reported Wilson as being younger than she really was, reports News.com.au. Wilson's classmate then notified the media of the age disconnect, along with Wilson's real name, which is Melanie.
While this news did pose questions, the use of stage names is not an unheard of practice and, to many, age is nothing but a number.
