The Detroit Pistons acquired forward Donatas Motiejunas on Thursday in a three-player trade with the Houston Rockets.
In addition to Motiejunas, the Pistons also got forward Marcus Thornton from the Rockets. The Rockets got center Joel Anthony and a 2016 first-round pick, which is lottery protected from number one through eight from the Pistons, according to Yahoo Sports. In 2017 and 2018, the pick is a top 10 protected pick.
This is the Pistons' second trade this week. They acquired Tobias Harris in a trade with the Orlando Magic earlier this week.
Motiejunas was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2011 and then traded to the Rockets. This summer, he will be a restricted free agent. Last season, he averaged a career-high 12 points but had a back injury late in the season and had back surgery. He has been limited to 14 games this season and is averaging 5.6 points, according to ESPN.
Thornton, who will be an unrestricted free agent after this season, is averaging 10 points this season. Anthony is averaging 0.7 points and 1.2 rebounds this season.
The Pistons are 27-27 and in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. The Rockets are 27-28 and in 14th place in the Western Conference.
