Ricky Gervais' return to the world of The Office now has an official release date.
Life on the Road, the Office spinoff which sees Gervais reprising his role of David Brent, will hit theaters on Aug. 19, the comedian announced on his Twitter page Thursday.

In a separate tweet, Gervais also confirmed that he now has a rough cut of Life on the Road, which he described as "101 minutes of pure fun. And cringe."
Taking place 15 years after the series finale of The Office, Life on the Road follows David Brent as he travels across the country in hopes of becoming a famous rock star. Gervais has emphasized that this is not really an Office movie, and none of the other characters from the TV show are expected to appear. He also said that Brent envisions the documentary as "Scorsese shooting the Rolling Stones," as we previously reported.
This won't be the first time Gervais has revisited the David Brent character. In 2013, he returned as Brent for The Office Revisited, a special which aired as part of BBC's Red Nose Day.
Life on the Road will be released in the United States as well, with Open Road Pictures handling distribution.
