Michael Moore in ICU with pneumonia before 'Where to Invade Next' opens

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore said on social media that he was rushed to the intensive care unit at a New York City hospital this week with pneumonia.

On Twitter, Moore blamed his health issues on his busy schedule. He has a new movie, Where To Invade Next, that is coming out, plus he has been in Flint, Michigan to highlight the water crisis there. He’s also been on the campaign trail to support Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Moore also posted a long explanation on Facebook, noting that he has actually been in the ICU since Jan. 31. He said that all of his appearances this week have obviously been cancelled.

“Let's just say things didn't look good Sunday night,” Moore wrote. “But thanks to a combination of good doctors, decent hospital food and 2nd-term Obamacare, I'm doing much better the last couple of days -- so much so that I'm being discharged later today. I'm to return home and rest for the coming days. All appearances for the rest of this week have been canceled.”

Moore also wrote that he’s very disappointed that he won’t be able to promote Where to Invade Next and urged his fans to help out in pushing the film. What makes it even more difficult is the fact that the film is being released by a new distributor that doesn’t even have a name yet, so it’s hard for them to promote without his help.

“If a few thousand of you suddenly became champions and spokespeople for the film, then maybe I/we can pull this off. I would be forever in your debt,” he wrote.
