Before Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit theaters, Disney made a big deal about Game of Thrones breakout Gwendoline Christie playing a stormtrooper commander. And then we saw how small that role actually was. But never fear, because Christie said on Jan. 30 that she will be back.
“I will be in the next Star Wars movie. I think that's an exclusive, actually,” Christie told People Magazine at the SAG Awards.
Christie played Captain Phasma, who got this really cool chrome armor and was even featured in the trailers. But, as we all know, the role was very small and the character was little more than a joke during the end.
Christie doesn’t sound disappointed though. She told People that she was really excited to be in the film.
“I was very overexcited. I made no secret of the fact that I really campaigned for the part for a long time,” she said. “And then I was delighted when J.J. Abrams wanted to have me in the film and then wanted to cast me in this role that had originally been designed for a man.”
Star Wars: Episode VIII opens on Dec. 15, 2017. Hopefully, Phasma will have more action in this one.
