'Game of Thrones' star Emilia Clarke in talks for romantic comedy 'Set It Up'

Emilia Clarke, the actress behind one of TV's best female protagonists is in talks for a new romantic comedy.

According to Deadline, MGM is eyeing Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, for the upcoming romantic comedy Set it Up.

The studio recently acquired the film rights after an impressive spec script from Katie Silberman (How to Be Single). Set it Up follows two overworked assistants whose terrible bosses set them up with one another.

This would be Clarke's second film with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, as she's also the lead of this summer's Me Before You, based on the novel by Jojo Moyes about a woman who falls in love with a paraplegic man she has been taking care of. Clearly the studio has great confidence in Clarke's abilities as an actress if they're looking to partner up with her again so soon. The trailer for Me Before You recently premiered online, as we previously reported.

After starring as Daenerys on Game of Thrones for five seasons, Clarke landed her first major movie role in 2015's Terminator Genisys, but unfortunately that was a financial disappointment and a sequel seems unlikely. With these upcoming projects, Clarke has a chance to prove herself capable of opening a major motion picture, which will be critical for her career going forward, considering Game of Thrones is expected to end within the next few years.
