Author bell hooks has a new girl crush and her name is Emma Watson.
The feminist writer sat down with the Harry Potter star as part of Paper Magazine's "Girl Crush" series. The series allows women who share mutual admiration for one another to converse with each other on, among other things, what it is like to be a woman in this day and age.
During the discussion, Watson admitted that she was introduced to bell hooks after she was appointed to her UN position and read one of hooks' books. She then said she was "hooked" and began reading more of her work and watching videos of her lectures at The New School. Watson said it was Orange Is the New Black star, Laverne Cox, who encouraged her to meet with hooks in person.
Hooks said she, too, was inspired by Watson as she watched her play Hermione in the Harry Potter series. "It was both exciting and at times infuriating to watch the way the character of Hermione developed and to see this vibrant image of a girl who was just so intelligent, who is such a thinker, then to also witness that that intelligence was placed in the service of boy power," she said.
The two also discussed hooks' new book Feminism is for Everybody and took a selfie. Watson later posted the selfie on her twitter.

They also touched on Emma's decision to take a year-long sabbatical from acting, which we previously reported.
Watson said it is her personal goal to read a book a week and also to branch out and reach out to as many women as possible to educate herself. The two women closed their discussion by talking about what they do for fun. Watson mentioned that she was working towards getting her yoga Level 3 for meditation teaching and asked hooks if a quote she had included in her book, All About Love, about getting into meditation was from a book she had read. To this question, hooks responded, "Sometimes I think, is there anything that I come to that I don't come to first in a book? It makes me laugh."
