Emma Watson announced that she will take a year off from Hollywood and her craft for personal growth and education.
The notable actress is passionate about feminism. She gave a United Nations speech on gender equality in Sept. 2014, and she also acts as a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. campaign HeForShe, which pushes men to join the cause for women's equality. Watson is also creating a website, college tour and arts week for the campaign.
The 25-year-old actress does not want to stop here and wants to understand, study and accomplish more when it comes to feminism.
The New York Daily News noted that Watson said in an interview for Paper Magazine, "I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies. Then I realized that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading."
Watson's interest in furthering education does not come as a surprise, as she graduated from Brown University in the midst of her acting career in 2014.
In her year off, Watson also wants to read a book on her own each week in addition to reading a book a month for a feminist book club, Our Shared Shelf, E! Online reports.
In addition to these goals, the star plans to make time for personal development.
"I'm on my journey with this and it might change, but I can tell you that what is really liberating and empowering me through being involved in feminism is that...so much of the self-critiquing is gone," Watson said.
