Demi Lovato is standing by Kesha’s side following the court’s decision to not allow her to get out of her contract with Sony, even if that means she has to work with producer Dr. Luke, who she has accused of drugging and raping her.
Lovato first supported Kesha on Feb. 20 when she tweeted the hashtag “#FreeKesha,” which fans started after the court’s ruling.
"#FreeKesha this is only gonna make you stronger, you brave and beautiful girl,” Lovato first tweeted. “Prayers are with you.”
The next day, she spilled her heart out about women empowerment and speaking up for those who aren’t being heard.
Frustrating to see women come forward with their past only to be shot down, not believed & disrespected for their bravery in taking action

Happens way too often. I'm ready for women to be taken just as seriously as men..

Someone tell me why anyone would ever feel brave enough to come forward if they are most likely to be ignored or called a liar?

I'm also ready for self-proclaimed feminists to start speaking out or taking action for women's rights.

Women empowerment is speaking up for other women even when it's something uncomfortable to speak up about.

Women empowerment is using your voice to help the voiceless women be heard.

Women empowerment is taking action now, not when it's convenient.

Women empowerment is leading other women to make actual changes in our society.

Dr. Luke has denied the allegations against him, but that hasn’t stopped others from standing behind Kesha. In addition to support from Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to help Kesha in her legal battle against Dr. Luke and Sony.
Kesha cried in a New York courtroom on Feb. 19 when she found out she was being denied a request to make music without Dr. Luke and outside of her contract with Sony. Her argument is that the label won’t promote her music if it isn’t produced by Dr. Luke.
