Caitlyn Jenner says being transgender pales in comparison to the 'flack' she gets for being Republican

Caitlyn Jenner might face challenges as a transgender woman, but she said they pale in comparison to being a known Republican.

While speaking at an event on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the University of Pennsylvania, Jenner talked about the criticism she receives for being a conservative.

“I have gotten more flak for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans," she said, Huffington Post reports.

When someone asked her why she hasn’t embraced the mostly democratic view of same-sex marriage and equality, the interviewer of the event, Vanity Fair’s Buzz Bissinger, came to her defense.

“Just because you change gender doesn’t mean you change your core beliefs," he said.

When Jenner appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show back in September, they touched on the subject of gay marraige. Jenner admitted she was previously “not for” same-sex marriage, but her views have since changed.

“Like a lot of people on this issue I’ve really changed thinking here, to I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness,” she said.
