It's been clear for a while that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would probably be a long movie, but we now officially have the film's run-time.
According to AMC Theaters, Batman v Superman will clock in at 2 hours and 31 minutes. That makes it longer than any film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, the studio's lengthiest entry being The Avengers at 143 minutes long. Dawn of Justice is among the longer superhero blockbusters we've seen in recent years, although it isn't even the longest Batman or Superman film: The Dark Knight Rises was 2 hours and 46 minutes and Superman Returns was 2 hours and 34 minutes.
The run-time shouldn't be that surprising, considering how much is expected to happen in Zack Snyder's movie. Dawn of Justice has to introduce Ben Affleck's new take on Batman, establish his feud with Superman, have the characters fight and bring in Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Alfred, Doomsday, Aquaman and The Flash. Yeah, it might get a bit complicated.
This length might be one of the reasons Warner Bros. is reportedly worried about how Dawn of Justice will perform at the box office, as we previously reported. The film needs to launch DC's whole new cinematic universe, so if it doesn't at least break $1 billion, it's going to be a massive disappointment.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25.
