Sharon Osbourne apologizes for 'throwaway remarks' about Teresa Giudice being 'raped' in jail

Sharon Osbourne is apologizing for a remark she made about Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice on her show The Talk, joking about the reality star being raped while in jail.

On the Feb. 9 show, Osbourne called her comments “throwaway remarks,” and apologized for offending anyone.

Osbourne made the “rape” joke on the Feb. 8 show, telling the audience that Giudice “revolts” her. “Defrauding and somewhat of a two-bit con woman, you actually revolt me,” she started out, Page Six reports.

“The thing is, it’s just so stereotypical that somebody who’s a two-bit celebrity goes into prison for whatever reason, comes out. They sell a story. Everybody wants to hear their story,” she added. “Were you raped, love? God, I hope she wasn’t. At least she would have gotten some enjoyment out of it.”

However, Osbourne said the following day, "People who know me know that I would never mean harm by saying that to people who have been in that situation.”

Giudice's memoir, Turning the Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again, came out earlier this week.
