Many fans who watched the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer immediately wished they hadn't, as it appears to give away much of the film's surprises. Luckily, the director is now assuring those people that there's plenty of twists left in store.
In a new interview with MTV, Snyder expressed confidence that viewers who felt annoyed by the trailer giving away plot points don't have to worry.
“It’s cool that they think it’s too much and I appreciate people not wanting to know, but there’s plenty that they don’t know," Snyder said. "There’s a lot of movie that’s not in the trailer.”
He did say, however, that he's very much against spoilers being leaked outside of official marketing materials. Although he respects audience members who want to know all the answers to questions before they sit down in the theater, he'd prefer people see the movie without having read spoilers.
Speaking of the trailer, Snyder said that Jesse Eisenberg's performance as Lex Luthor is a lot more sophisticated in the movie that you might think based on the footage in the trailer.
"But that’s also the fun of it," Snyder said. "That’s why you go to the movies, so you can actually see the context and understand the depth.”
Complaints over trailers giving away too much have arisen quite a bit lately, with one recent controversy being the trailers to Terminator: Genisys. The marketing department gave away the movie's major twist in that footage, something the director spoke out against.
