The new Luc Besson science fiction flick has begun filming and we now have our first look at the set via star Cara Delevingne.
Principle photography has begun on Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, a press release from EuropaCorp noted. Filming is currently taking place in Paris and according to Besson, production will last 115 days.
The movie stars Dane DeHaan and Delevingne as Valerian and Laureline, operatives for the government of the human territories who must maintain order throughout the universe. They receive orders from their Commander, played by Clive Owen and they soon travel to the intergalactic city of Alpha, home of seventeen million inhabitants. Also starring are Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock and Kris Wu.
Besson's film is based on the French comic book series Valérian and Laureline, which published its first issue in 1967. The final edition hit shelves in 2010. The director has previously brought us movies like Léon: The Professional, The Fifth Element and Lucy.
Delevingne gave us a look at the set, putting up this photo on Instagram to celebrate the first day of filming with the caption "New film, new family."
