Tom Hanks is the nation's favorite movie star, a new poll has found.
In a survey from The Harris Poll, which compiled the answers of over 2,000 U.S. adults, Hanks topped the list of favorite actors. He beat out Denzel Washington for the top spot after Washington was No. 1 last year. This is possibly due to the fact that Washington did not release a film in 2015, although he only slipped down to No. 3.
No. 2 on the list was Johnny Depp, who's up from No. 4 in 2014's poll. Audiences are apparently still quite fond of Depp even if critics aren't as enthusiastic. Forbes recently named him the most overpaid actor in Hollywood after four box office bombs in a row, as we previously reported. Harris Poll notes that Depp is a top choice among women in particular.
John Wayne nabbed the No. 4 spot, making him the only deceased actor on the list. Wayne has remained in the top ten for the past 20 years and is a favorite among men. After a fantastic return to the Star Wars franchise in The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford rose to No. 5 this year, climbing up from No. 9 in the 2014 survey.
Rounding out the rest of the top ten were Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence, Clint Eastwood, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. And although they both made the list last year, Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie were nowhere to be found in the 2015 edition.
