The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be broadcasting a live episode after the Super Bowl next month and CBS has just announced the comedian's guest lineup.
According to Variety, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele and Margot Robbie will all be dropping in to The Late Show on Feb. 7. This will be the first time the late night talk show has broadcast live in its entire 23-year history. Networks traditionally use the post-Super Bowl slot to promote a scripted series. Last year it was The Blacklist on NBC and before that it was New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Fox.
This is a huge opportunity for Colbert's Late Show to pick up some new fans, as his ratings have been a bit down recently. He repeatedly fell behind Jimmy Kimmel throughout the last few weeks of 2015, with one report suggesting Colbert was losing viewers because he is alienating Republicans, as we previously reported. Although The Late Show has not really altered its political content in the new year, a post-Super Bowl show focused mainly on comedians and actors might draw some viewers back in.
The Late Show airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
