Tim Curry joins Fox’s ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’

The star of the original The Rocky Horror Picture Show will take part in Fox’s remake, although in a very different role. Tim Curry has been cast as the Criminologist Narrator.

The news was announced today, during Fox’s Television Critics Association Press Tour presentation, reports TheWrap. Curry said in a statement that he is “very happy and excited to be a part of this new event.”

Dr. Frank-N-Furter was the role that made Curry a star. He first played the part in the 1973 London stage production, then reprised the role in the 1975 film. Maybe he can give Laverne Cox, who is playing the role in the Fox version, some pointers.

In addition to Cox, the two-hour taped musical will also feature Adam Lambert, Victoria Justice, Reeve Carney and Staz Nair. Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) is directing.

It is really great news that Curry will be able to participate in some way. The actor suffered a major stroke in 2012. He made a rare public appearance in June 2015 to pick up a Tony Awards honor in Los Angeles.

Despite health issues, he has continued to lend his distinctive voice to projects, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
