The Oscar-related snubs continued for the cast of Straight Outta Compton, as they were reportedly left off the awards ceremony guest list.
According to TMZ, the cast - which includes newcomers O'Shea Jackson, Jr., Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins - was not invited to the awards ceremony on Feb. 28.
The film was one of the many predominantly black films largely shut out of the nominations, although it did snag a nod for Best Original Screenplay. Ironically, two white screenwriters, Andrea Berloff and Jonathan Herman, did receive invitations according to The New York Daily News.
Despite the unflattering circumstantial evidence, not much is known about the criteria for receiving an invite to the Academy Awards so it is unclear if this was a deliberate snub or simply an unfortunate oversight.
Whatever the case may be, Ice Cube, a founding member of N.W.A and producer of Straight Outta Compton, is taking the non invitation in stride. "I'm not worried about the Oscars," he told TMZ.
Straight Outta Compton did get a bit more love from the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the NAACP Image Awards. TMZ reports that Ice Cube will be attending those ceremonies.
