‘Space Jam’ live read set for Toronto, timed with NBA All Star Game

Space Jam might not have the best screenplay of all time, but the film’s fans will get to see a live-reading of it in Toronto next month. Since the NBA All-Star Game in Toronto happens to be taking place on the same weekend as the TIFF Next Wave Festival, festival organizers have announced plans for the special celebration of the film’s 20th anniversary.

The live read is scheduled for Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. While that’s the same day as the All-Star Game, you could make both, since the game doesn’t start until 8:30 p.m. at the Air Canada Centre.

Casting for the event hasn’t been announced yet, but TIFF teased future announcements on social media. Perhaps they could get LeBron James to read Michael Jordan’s part, since he hinted in August that he might be interested in starring in a Space Jam 2. Who could possibly replace Bill Murray, though? And who would voice Bugs Bunny?

According to Entertainment Weekly, tickets go on sale for non-TIFF members on Wednesday.
