One of the breakout stars of HBO's addicting documentary series Project Greenlight has just landed an impressive new job.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Effie Brown has joined Lee Daniels Entertainment. Her first project will be an untitled Fox pilot starring Queen Latifah about a group of girls trying to get big in the music industry.
"In my opinion, Lee Daniels is a cultural icon," Brown said. "I'm really happy to be here because part of Lee Daniels' brand is that he does value diversity in front of as well as behind the camera."
The indie producer is known mainly for taking part in the recent fourth season of Project Greenlight. She frequently clashed with filmmaker Jason Mann and their conflict is part of what made the show so highly entertaining. However, Brown and Mann have insisted off camera that this feud was played up for television and that they don't really hate each other.
"I saw him on Saturday in New York — we hung out for like an hour," Brown said after the show's finale aired. "We hugged. We have pictures!"
Brown has produced films such as Rocket Science, Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her and Dear White People.
