Every time NBC gives a presentation, it seems like there’s a new Chicago Fire spinoff in the works. This time, the network will head to Chicago law offices.
During the Television Critics Association press tour presentation, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke told Variety that they could “plant the seeds for some characters who could live within the world of PD.”
Salke stressed that talks with producer Dick Wolf are still in the very early stages and no writers have been attached yet.
The Chicago shows are all produced by Universal TV, which is one reason why NBC is so open to keeping them around. They’ve also been big ratings hits and both Chicago Fire and Chicago PD are renewed for Fall 2016 already. Chicago Med has also received five more episodes for its freshman run.
“Now we have a Chicago zeitgeist,” NBC chief Bob Greenblatt added. “I think it’s innovative and fresh and we’re seeing more (viewership) building as the weeks go on.”
Now, how long is it going to take Wolf and his team to get to a Chicago spin-off about deep dish pizza?
