The legendary television show Little House on the Prairie is heading to the big screen. A long-gestating film adaptation will be made at Paramount.
The project was most recently at Sony before it was put into turnaround in 2015, reports The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the project’s move to the other studio.
Little House will be produced by Scott Rudin. Sean Durkin, who directed the acclaimed 2011 indie Martha Marcy May Marlene, is attached to direct. Abi Morgan (Shame, Suffragette) wrote the script.
The 1974-1983 TV series was based on the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder about her childhood in the American Midwest during the 1880s. The series starred Melissa Gilbert, Michael Landon, Lindsay Greenbush, Sidney Greenbush, Richard Bull and Karen Grassle.
