Key & Peele jump to the big screen to save kitten in ‘Keanu’ (Video)

No, Keanu isn’t a biopic on Keanu Reeves. Instead, it’s the title of the first film starring Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele together.

The film got its first trailer today and it honestly looks more like a sketch than a full-length movie. The Key & Peele stars play friends who go after their stolen kitten, named Keanu. It takes them on a gritty, violent journey and they come face to face with a gangster kitten.

Keanu was written by Peele and Alex Rubens, a member of the Key & Peele writing team. Peter Atencio, a producer and director on Key & Peele, is the director.

Key & Peele lasted for five seasons on Comedy Central before the duo decided to end it. The show was a critical hit, earning 12 Emmy nominations and a Screen Actors Guild nomination.

Separately, Key and Peele have made appearances in several films. Key was in Tomorrowland, The LEGO Movie, Let’s Be Cops and Pitch Perfect 2. Peele’s credits include Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Life In Pieces and Wanderlust. Both of them are MADtv vets and you can check out our 2012 interview with them right here.
