Jonah Hex to appear in ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ on The CW

Jonah Hex, the DC Comics Western anti-hero, will appear in the new CW series, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Variety that the show’s freshman season will include an Old West episode during the second half of its first season. DC Comics also confirmed that Jonah Hex will make his debut in Episode 11.

“Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West,” Guggenheim said. “But if you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it. We’re thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television.”

Jonah Hex was created by John Albano and Tony DeZuniga and made his debut in 1972. The character did get his own movie, 2010’s Jonah Hex with Josh Brolin, but it was a box office disaster and only made $10.5 million. Still, he’s a beloved character among DC fans, so seeing him brought to the small screen is exciting.

Legends of Tomorrow will debut on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. Warner Bros. TV and The CW have not cast an actor for the role of Jonah Hex.
