Everyone who can’t head to Broadway to see the sensation that is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton will have to wait for the national tour, which won’t start until next year.
The show is about the life and death of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Miranda wrote the music, lyrics and book. The acclaimed production is staged at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
According to The New York Times, the national tour will start in San Francisco at the SHN Orpheum Theater in March 2017 and will run for 21 weeks. It will then head to Los Angeles’ Hollywood Pantages Theater from Aug. 11 to Dec. 30, 2017.
As The Los Angeles Times notes, the Pantages is twice the size as the Richard Rodgers Theatre, but considering the anticipation for the show outside of New York, that shouldn’t be too hard to fill. The Pantages is hosting other Broadway shows soon, including Hedwig and the Angry Inch and The King And I.
Chicago will get a look at Hamilton before the national tour though, beginning on Sept. 27 at the soon-to-be called PrivateBank Theater.
