'Girl Meets World' star Rowan Blanchard identifies as ‘queer’

Rowan Blanchard, the star of Disney's Boy Meets World sequel series Girl Meets World, took to social media to express her thoughts on her own sexuality and feelings towards relationships.

Blanchard wrote on Twitter, “In my life — only ever liked boys. However I personally don’t wanna label myself as straight, gay or whateva so I am not gonna give myself labels to stick with — just existing ;).”

When it comes to having a label on her identity, Blanchard chose to identify as "queer."

This isn't the first time that Blanchard has been direct and vocal about current social issues. She often talks about feminism and gender roles. During an interview with Just Jared Jr. in December, she even spoke out about Taylor Swift's "squad."

“Of course female friendship is a beautiful thing," she said at the time. "It’s insanely powerful. Sisterhood is something so valid and important when you are growing up that I literally think the essence of it should be taught in schools. But the ‘squads’ we see in the media are very polarizing. Feminism and friendship are supposed to be inclusive, and most of these ‘squads’ are strictly exclusive.”

Blanchard currently stars in Girl Meets World, the sequel series to the popular 90s show, Boy Meets World. She added that she hopes the show will add some representation of bisexual characters.
