Bad news, Friends fanatics: According to the show's creator, no reboot or reunion will ever happen.
Variety reported co-creator Marta Kauffman said at the Television Critics Association press tour that she has no desire to make any more Friends.
“Why? I mean, for me, why go back to that territory?” Kauffman said.
She went on to say that there will definitely never be a Friends movie. Her new show, Grace and Frankie, allows her to explore something new after she left the Friends time in her life, and so it sounds like she is all about looking forward with new projects and leaving well enough alone.
Kauffman also denied next month's Friends reunion, as just about everyone has been doing recently. On Feb. 21, members of the cast and crew will come together for an NBC special celebrating the career of James Burrows, veteran television director who worked on Friends. However, Kauffman insists that though much of the cast will be there, it isn't a reunion.
David Schwimmer recently made a similar statement, calling reports of a reunion "completely inaccurate." It doesn't help that Matthew Perry won't be there, as he will be doing a play in London at the time.
However, although everyone has made it clear that this isn't a reunion, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer will still all be on screen together for the first time since 2004.
