Former 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' star Janet Hubert slams Jada Pinkett Smith for boycotting Oscars

Jada Pinkett Smith posted a video to social media this week, indicating she will be boycotting the Oscars for their failure to recognize African American actors. Former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star, Janet Hubert, is now criticizing her for it.

Hubert, who co-starred with Pinkett Smith’s husband, Will Smith, on the ‘90s sitcom, slammed the Smiths for being part of the system that they’re boycotting.

We must stand in our power.

Hubert left Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1993 and was replaced by another actress and she has blamed Smith for it. But her focus was on Pinkett Smith, who she accused of being a mouth piece for her husband, claiming the real reason she's boycotting is because he didn't get nominated for his role in Concussion.

“You ain’t Barack and Michelle Obama,” she said. “You have a huge production company that you only produce your friends, your family, and yourself, so you are a part of Hollywood, and you are a part of the system that is unfair to other actors."

In a Facebook post that has since been deleted, Hubert wrote, “Girl please, why are you always speaking for your man?” adding of Smith’s performance his “accent was all over the place” and “his female co-stars role was cut to nothing to make sure she did not outshine him.”
