Dr. Phil sued by former employee for false imprisonment, other startling charges

A former staff member of Dr. Phil is suing the television doctor for false imprisonment, claiming he locked his employees in a room to interrogate them about someone leaking information to the media.

The ex-employee, Leah Rothman, said Dr. Phil had security guards help keep his employees held hostage in the room, making them turn over their phones, until he got what he wanted.

After locking the doors, Dr. Phil reportedly told them he was getting authorities involved because the information was leaked "over state lines."

TMZ reports in the lawsuit, Rothman claimed Dr. Phil threatened, “If you f*** with me, I'll f*** with you.” She also claimed she suffered from “emotional distress” due to being held in a “confined space,” and as a result she had to quit her job a few weeks later.

Rothman alleged she later found out Dr. Phil already knew who the culprit was before the interrogation and heard from an executive on the show that he "got joy out of the process and in scaring his employees."

People reports there were 300 people held in the room when Dr. Phil made these allegations. Rothman also sued his production company and CBS for emotional distress, whistle blower retaliation and wrongful constructive termination.
