Director James Gunn was among the millions saddened to hear about the death of David Bowie and as it turns out, the music legend was in talks for a cameo in his next film.
In a post on his Facebook page, the Marvel director revealed that Bowie was in negotiations for a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
"Just a very short while ago Kevin Feige and I were talking about a cameo role in Guardians Vol. 2, and he brought up Bowie's name," Gunn wrote. "I told him nothing in the world would make me happier, but I heard from common friends he wasn't doing well. We heard back that he was okay and it could potentially happen."
Gunn went on to say that Bowie was an idol of his, naming Stardust as perhaps the best rock and roll album of all time. For that reason, he decided to feature the song "Moonage Daydream" in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. Bowie's presence might not be totally absent from the Guardians sequel, though, as Gunn says there's another song of his he wants to use in Vol. 2. That would make him the only musician to have songs featured in both films.
Bowie died Sunday night after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.
