Usually when singers perform the national anthem during televised sporting events, it’s their botched lyrics that catch the attention of viewers at home. However, with Ciara’s performance at the College Football Playoff Championship on Monday, it was her dress that caused a controversy.
Ciara wore a cleavage-baring Jasmi gown with a cape detail to kick off the Alabama vs. Clemson game, but Twitter users were more interested in how low-cut the dress was than her voice.
According to Us Weekly, Campus Insiders host Bonnie Bernstein tweeted, "Dear Ciara. You're stunning. But this is a National Championship Game. Kids are watching. Cover up."

Appropriate, fair tweet. The dress was inappropriate. Her voice was more than enough. Why distract w/nudity? https://t.co/Fv93ioO7TM

However, Ciara’s boyfriend, Russell Wilson, disagreed. He sent some love to the singer on Twitter, telling her she looked “flawless in every way.”
I see you baby!! Sounded amazing & looked flawless in every way! @Ciara #NationalChampionship pic.twitter.com/0buuntOFvF
