Chris Rock's brother says Rock should host the Oscars despite diversity controversy

Chris Rock's brother, Tony, is supporting his sibling hosting the Academy Awards despite ongoing controversy with the Oscar nominations and lack of diversity.

Tony Rock spoke to TMZ and wasn't holding back when he was asked about his brother hosting.

"Hell yeah he should (host). Because there's a big a-- check involved," he said.

For Tony, it isn't all about they money, he addressed the fact that Rock been given this platform also allows him to highlight these issues to a large audience.

"(There's no) better platform to bring light to this whole thing than on the stage, in front of those same white people that don't accept our movies and acknowledge our movies," he added.

Many celebrities, including Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee, have announced that they will be boycotting the Oscars in light of such a lack of diversity among the honorees.

Quickly after the nominations were announced, #OscarsSoWhite started to trend across social media. It is the second consecutive year that the Oscars failed to nominate any minority actors.
