'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' will utilize practical effects, says Zack Snyder

The upcoming superhero film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice won't be entirely CGI, according to its director.

In a recent interview with Empire via Comic Book Movie, Snyder says that many of the Batman scenes in the film will be accomplished using practical effects rather than computer generated imagery.

"We were able to do a lot of this practically," Snyder said. "Batman brings that back. Figuring out how to mix Batman's practical approach with Superman has been an awesome experience."

Speaking of the film's visuals, Snyder said he hoped to up the ante for Dawn of Justice, which is why he decided to shoot large sections of the film using IMAX cameras.

Although he's hyping up the visual elements of the film here, Snyder also recently said that Dawn of Justice is really more of a drama than an action movie. The focus, he says, will be the two men figuring out what makes the other one tick. It looks like audiences will be eating it up in a few months, according to a recent poll, it's the most anticipated comic book movie of 2016.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
