When The Avengers came out in 2011, it was seen as a big deal that Marvel was putting six of its superheroes into one film. Well, Avengers: Infinity War is going to be slightly more crowded.
At Wizard World New Orleans, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed just how massive Infinity War is going to get.
"We have so many characters we're dealing with," Joe Russo said. "We're breaking ground on Avengers: Infinity War. We have a board with 67 characters on it."
That's right: 67 characters. If you're wondering how on Earth they could have possibly gotten to that number, consider the fact that the movie is expected to bring every single Marvel property together, and there are a whole lot of those at this point. Characters from The Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Guardians of the Galaxy, Luke Cage, and every other Marvel property to date are somehow going to be squeezed into one film.
Joe Russo also recently told Comicbook.com that the idea behind Infinity War is to bring the entire Marvel universe together.
"People will not be disappointed in the amount of characters in the movie," he said. "The concept of Infinity War is that the Marvel universe unites to battle the greatest threat to the world and universe that you’ve ever seen, and we’re going to honor that concept.”
Infinity War - Part I opens on May 4, 2018.
