Alec Baldwin, Richard Linklater take the polar bear plunge

Alec Baldwin and director Richard Linklater took part in a cold weather tradition, the polar bear plunge. The two jumped into extremely cold water on New Year's Day off of New York's Long Island.

The 30 Rock star took the plunge on Friday in order to benefit an East Hampton rehabilitation facility. Linklater, who was vacationing in the area, jumped into the water for the East Hampton Food Pantry. Linklater said that the experience was very cool and that a lot of people were able to come out for a good reason.

Baldwin is originally from the Long Island area and is no stranger to attending charity events that support various organizations within the local counties.

Baldwin can currently be seen on the big screen in Concussion. Will Smith earned an Golden Globe nomination for his work on the movie which focuses on one doctor's mission to expose the concussion issue plaguing NFL players.
