All-star point guard John Wall was forced off with an injury during the Washington Wizards’ Sunday’s loss.
With 1:14 to go in the game while visiting the Dallas Mavericks, Wall collided with opposing player Jeremy Evans and was forced to exit the game after injuring his right knee. The Wizards fell to the Mavs 114-106.
Wall underwent an MRI after the game, but was uncertain about the extent of the injury.
“I have no idea right now,” Wall said, via ESPN. “I just did an X-ray and did not look at it. I just left.”
Wall was hopeful that he would be cleared to play at Miami on Monday.
“If it's something that I have to sit out, I will,'” Wall said. “If it's something that's fine (and) I can play through it, I will.'”
Wall finished the game with 28 points, 10 assists and 5 steals in 41 minutes. He is averaging 18.4 points and 8.0 assists, as the Wizards have underachieved to start the season at 8-10.
While Wall had a big night, the evening belonged to Wesley Matthews, who snapped out of a season-long slump to erupt for 36 points and making 10 3-pointers, including 28 points in the second half to lead the Mavs. The 36 points tied Matthews' career high.
“It's one of those nights where those same shots that I've been shooting and missing, they were falling tonight,'' Matthews said. "They kept finding me, and I kept letting them fly.''
