4. Natalie tells her half-sisters about their dad’s manuscript
Natalie makes an inadvertent discovery while cleaning out some old things—her father’s unfinished manuscript. The work reveals Thomas’ 2 families, causing Natalie to question how much of the story was derived from his actual life. When Natalie informs her sisters of this, they can’t help but see the eerie similarities as well. Torn about what to do with the manuscript, Natalie tells her mother of her discovery and the pair eventually try to get it published, until the Carver’s fight back to prevent the book from being picked up.
