3. Aaron Hernandez found guilty of murder

The case of Aaron Hernandez is sad on many levels. One man is dead and another will be spending the rest of his natural life behind bars for that murder. In April, a jury of seven women and five men found Hernandez guilty of first degree murder which in the state of Massachusetts carries a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

At one time, the former NFL star seemed to have it all. He married his high school sweetheart, had a daughter, bought a home for $1.3 million and signed a contract with the Patriots for $40 million. But, because of the choices he made, he will never see the light of day again as a free man and we will never see the full potential of just how great he could have been.
