8. Warriors defeat LeBron’s Cavs in finals
Most of the talk in the NBA offseason revolved around LeBron James’ return home to Cleveland. Immediately, as they did when he was with Miami, analysts penciled in the Cavaliers as the clear-cut favorite in the East to go to the finals. The only question was what team could challenge Cleveland? That team turned out to be the Golden State Warriors. True the Cavs were hampered with injuries to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, but the Warriors just played better.
In the end, instead of the Cleveland’s big three of James, Irving and Love hoisting the trophy it was Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala and company. While Warriors fans celebrated, Cavs fans wondered if King James will be able to bring them the championship they long for.
