Slipknot's Corey Taylor opens up about Lemmy Kilmister

Slipknot's Corey Taylor is opening up about Lemmy Kilmister and paying tribute to the great rock 'n' roll legend.

Taylor wrote a moving tribute to Kilmister that was published in the The Guardian.

"He will never be forgotten, because there is so much to remember: his music, his friendship and most importantly, his life," wrote Taylor.

The Slipknot frontman went into detail about the first time that he heard Motörhead.

"The first time I ever saw Motörhead was on my favorite TV show at the time, The Young Ones. Suddenly, that now-familiar bass riff to 'Ace of Spades' was punching me in the face, and I realized I was listening to one of my favorite songs for the first time," explained Taylor.

"The guitars were smuggling razor blades, the drums were pummeling and through it all … there was Lemmy Kilmister, playing bass and straining his neck to sing into the mic that always seemed a little too high, until you realized it was just right. I sat transfixed, unable to describe what I was seeing or hearing, and unable to understand why I loved it instantly. But it didn’t matter if I didn't understand. I just knew it kicked ass."

Kilmister passed away on Monday after a brief battle with cancer.

The group confirmed Kilmister’s death on Facebook posting, “There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made its way down the street, with his family.”
