Toy Story 3 (2010), Lee Unkrich
Can you believe that it’s been five years since Toy Story 3 came out? It’s seems like it was just yesterday that we were all sitting in a theater crying as Woody and his friends were in an incinerator. Surely, Pixar wasn’t going to melt our favorite toys? Of course not.
Again, the reason why Toy Story 3 works is because it tells a totally new story. Yes, it builds on the same themes of the other films, but that’s what unifies the trilogy. That’s why Andy’s decision to give the toys to Bonnie is as important as it is. We all have to let go of things we once loved. It doesn’t mean we love them any less, it just means that we’ve given them to someone who can get the same amount of wonder as you used to.
