Prince Harry spoke about his mother, Princess Diana, during a recent speech.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, almost a month ago, Prince Harry was giving a speech in Lesotho, Africa in time for the opening of the Mamohato Children’s Centre. He talked about how the experience of losing his mother helped him to relate to orphans that he has been working with to help as part of his charity work.
He spoke about having a “gaping hole that could never be filled.” He acknowledged that the orphans he worked with had a greater challenge since they themselves lost both parents, but that they “shared a similar feeling of loss.”
The uncle of Prince George and Princess Charlotte also talked about the motivation for his desire to give back to others. He credited it to his mother’s philanthropy, having once said, “It’s something that our mother did a lot. And that’s the time you really get to learn.”
Prince Harry founded the orphanage as part of his charity work with Sentebale and he even named a dining hall in the building for his mother.
Just recently, the prince visited the same hospital where his mother had once visited when it was an AIDS hospice, the Associated Press reported.
